On Thursday, November 20th, the Attleboro Historical Preservation Society hosted a special presentation celebrating Greetings from Attleboro: A Historic Postcard Collection, the new book by local author, multimedia artist, and long-time Attleboro resident Shawn Viveiros. The event drew a packed audience of roughly 40 attendees, filling the room with energy, curiosity, and plenty of local pride.
Shawn guided the audience through the story behind the book, its inspiration, research process, and the remarkable historical details hidden within Attleboro’s early postcards. He also shared insights from his ongoing Then/Now Project, which pairs the century-old postcard views with modern photographs of the same locations. These comparisons sparked lively conversations about how the city has changed and what has stayed the same.

In addition to the presentation, the Society brought out its full collection of historic Attleboro postcards, giving visitors a rare opportunity to browse original prints and handwritten messages that capture the voices of past residents and travelers.
Books were available for purchase at the event and sold out, with all proceeds benefiting the Attleboro Historical Preservation Society. We are grateful for the enthusiastic support from the community and for everyone who helped make the evening a success.
The Society extends a sincere thank you to Shawn Viveiros for his research, creativity, and dedication to preserving Attleboro’s story and to all who attended for keeping our local history alive.
Stay tuned for more programs, presentations, and opportunities to explore the vibrant history of our city.
