Railroad StationIn the days when the only "web" was the one of roads and railway lines, being a part of the web was just as important as it is today. A station was a definitive place holder and anyone on any other part of the web knew how to get to you. The Attleboro Train Station surely must have been a source of pride for the whole town. Trains and train stations have a unique appeal to many people. Toy railway lines are more popular than ever and visitors flock to train and trolley museums across the country every year. The most noticeable change in the railway line here in Attleboro is the construction of the arches to raise the line above street grade. Views of the grade level crossing are seen in the Monument Square photos and in some of the Park Street images. Today the station appears much like it has for 100 years. The addition of overhead wires for the new express trains has diminished the aesthetic appeal of the whole corridor. Fences and a plethora of warning signs have been added for the commuters to help keep Darwin's natural selection process from occurring. |
